Dispersants

A dispersant keeps fine particles apart in a liquid instead of clumping together, so the same slurry, castable mix, or slip flows with less water and less energy. Ceramic and sanitaryware producers use dispersants to thin body and glaze slurries before casting or spraying; refractory producers use them to cut mixing water in castables for higher density after drying; grinding operations use a dispersant-type aid to stop particles re-agglomerating on the mill. Less water and less resistance mean lower drying and grinding energy, and a more uniform final product.
