Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is a water-soluble polymer and one of the most widely used cellulose derivatives, with properties such as thickening, stabilization and film formation. In ceramic slip and glaze, CMC controls viscosity, keeps the suspension stable and prevents particle settling; the result is more uniform glaze application on the body and fewer surface defects.
